I am working on a way to offer it as a download that you can keep on your computer. hopefully I’ll sort that out in the next week or two.

Also, for those of you who came out to dance with me, I know these clips go by very fast. I’ll be posting separate videos with full-length versions of the dances in each city. Every city will be in there, including the ones that didn’t make the final cut. It’ll take me a while to edit the footage together, though, so here is the schedule for release:

Europe and Israel - June 27th
US and Canada - July 4th
Australia, Asia, South America, and Mexico - July 11th

My Towel Day
Towel Day Fan Site

Towel Day is celebrated every May 25 as a tribute by fans of the late author Douglas Adams. The commemoration was first held in 2001, two weeks after his death on May 11, 2001. On this day, fans carry a towel with them during the day to demonstrate their participation and mourning of the author. The towel is a reference to Adams’s popular science fiction comedy series The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitch hiker can have. Partly it has great practical value - you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you - daft as a bush, but very, very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have “lost”. What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

The original article that began Towel Day was posted at “Binary Freedom”, a short lived open source forum.

Towel Day: A Tribute to Douglas Adams
Monday May 14, 2001 06:00am PDT

Douglas Adams will be missed by his fans worldwide. So that all his fans everywhere can pay tribute to this genius, I propose that two weeks after his passing (May 25, 2001) be marked as “Towel Day”. All Douglas Adams fans are encouraged to carry a towel with them for the day, and preferably quote the popular books and television series constantly..

So long Douglas, and thanks for all the fish!

¿Alguno de ustedes recuerda a “Where the hell is Matt”?
El domingo tendrás la oportunidad de aparecer en su próximo video:

Hi folks

Pido disculpas de que esta invitación no se escribe en español. Si desea una traducción, por favor dígame.

If you’re getting this email, you’ve either signed-up on my site to be notified or you’ve written to me and mentioned where you live. I’m coming to Meixco to shoot a clip for my new dancing video. This is an invitation to come out and join me.

The last video was about places. This one is about people. LOTS of people. So I’m not too concerned about the background. I just want a place where people can gather and dance badly without getting into too much trouble.

The location is in the Zocalo on Sunday, May 25th. We will meet near the flagpole. Dancing will begin at 3pm.

Here’s a link to the Google Map:
http://tinyurl.com/6c8h3a

The photo attached to this email shows where to meet.

I realize Mexico is a very large country. I wish I could cover more regions, but I only have time to shoot one clip and Mexico City is where I get the most email.

We’re not publicizing the event. This is just going out to people who’ve signed up on my site or sent me email. But please feel free to extend this invitation to everyone you know who might want to participate.

The boring details are below. If you can’t make it, you don’t need to read any further:

Please print out the attached release form and sign it ahead of time, if possible. If you don’t have a printer, I’ll have copies to hand out.

I’ll also need to take a photo of each participant before the dance and attach it to the release form so we can identify everyone in the video. You don’t need to bring a photo. I’ll have a camera.

If you are under 18, you MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian who can sign the release form and be photographed with you. Those are the rules I have to follow in order to use the footage. The good news is that my sponsor is making a donation to charity for each person who signs up and dances with me.

Feel free to invite friends to come with you. Just make sure everyone is okay with signing the release form.

When you get to the spot, look for the guy who looks like the guy in the dancing video. Just come on over and say hello. I shouldn’t be too difficult to find.

It will take some time to process each person, so depending on how many show up, I may have to stop accepting forms at some point and shoot the video. If you come early, it’ll make things a bit easier on me.

The whole thing shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to shoot. We’ll set up the shot, dance for about 15 seconds, do it one more time for good measure, and then try a couple fun variations.

There won’t be any music. That gets added later. Dance however you want to the music in your head, or bring headphones if you prefer :)

I can’t guarantee that the clip we shoot will end up in the final video. There will be a lot of footage to choose from and some of it will not be used.

You’re welcome to bring your own camera. After the shoot, I’ll stick around for pictures and stuff. I’m happy to dance with you in your own picture/video, so don’t hesitate to ask.

Please reply to this email if you plan to attend and let us know how many people you think you’ll be bringing. It’ll help to give us an idea of how many to expect.

We’re planning to put the final video up on the internet on June 21st, 2008.

I look forward to dancing badly with you!

-Matt and Melissa

Wikipedia:
The “dot-com bubble” was a speculative bubble covering roughly 1995–2001 (with a climax in 2000) during which stock markets in Western nations saw their value increase rapidly from growth in the new Internet sector and related fields. The period was marked by the founding (and, in many cases, spectacular failure) of a group of new Internet-based companies commonly referred to as dot-coms. A combination of rapidly increasing stock prices, individual speculation in stocks, and widely available venture capital created an exuberant environment in which many of these businesses dismissed standard business models, focusing on increasing market share at the expense of the bottom line. The bursting of the dot-com bubble marked the beginning of a relatively mild yet rather lengthy early 2000s recession in the developed world.

Historically, the dot-com boom can be seen as similar to a number of other technology-inspired booms of the past including railroads in the 1840s, automobiles and radio in the 1920s, transistor electronics in the 1950s, computer time-sharing in the 1960s, and home computers and biotechnology in the early 1980s.

Bubble 2.0 ?
In the years of 2006 and 2007, there is speculation that there is a second dot-com bubble, often called Bubble 2.0, going on.

Did anyone watch the Slaughter in Pittsburgh last night?
Did anyone watch the Slaughter in Pittsburgh last night?

ESPN

Like a scene out of West Side Story, the entire Baltimore Ravens roster gathered about 20 yards onto the field Monday night for the pregame coin toss, glaring at the Pittsburgh Steelers and verbally threatening the type of bodily harm for which they are famous.

“It looked,” said Steelers linebacker James Harrison, who authored what Steelers coach Mike Tomlin termed a “spectacular” overall outing in Pittsburgh’s dominating 38-7 win, “like they wanted to rumble.”

Turned out, though, that the Ravens were more ready to stumble, bumble and fumble. Instead of audacious thugs, Baltimore was all thumbs.

In a totally unrelated topic… Mother fucker Patriots, I can’t believe they’re still undefeated :?

Oct 30

I was falling asleep last night, at around 11 p.m. when all of the sudden I decided to have a little chat with myself:

I : “So, what pictures do you think should go on my new facebook account?”
Myself : “You fucker, forget about facebook, let’s watch some TV for at least half an hour. Too much internet couldn’t be good for both of us”
I : “Think you are right, but just for half an hour since we have to go to work tomorrow, and believe me, it’s going to be a really hard day with our boss kicking our balls with those system security fixes

I started zapping, you know, to catch a good “half an hour” show like those on Sony or WB, but I guess I couldn’t be that lucky. I was on the 3rd channel from zapping starting point (Starting point was channel 41 ESPN, since the last thing I watched was the last game of the MLB World Series) when I hit channel 44 FOX.

Braveheart
Braveheart (1995)

Mother fucker bastard son of a bitch, why did Fox have Braveheart on? I wanted to change the damn channel and forget about it but myself couldn’t resist, myself wanted to watch the whole movie all over again… and so we did

Next time, I will cheat on myself and skip that kind of channels: Fox, Cinema Golden Choice 1 and 2 (Can you imagine if we caught soft porn on those channels, chances are I’ll end up watching 2 o 3 of those short movies), Cinema Plus, Cinema Platino, and any channel that has the nerve to play a movie at 11:00 p.m.

William Wallace: Sons of Scotland! I am William Wallace.
Second Soldier: William Wallace is seven feet tall!
William Wallace: Yes, I’ve heard. Kills men by the hundreds. And if HE were here, he’d consume the English with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse.

How Braveheart Should Have Ended
